How Much Snow?!?
Feb 18th
Not much happening over the past couple days worth mentioning really. I've just been working on my programming stuff and playing some Tomb Raider: Anniversary that I just got through Gamefly. So it's been all quiet on this front.
We're experiencing another winter event though, relatively minor. It's only worth mentioning because this is the second time in a row that I've scheduled a haircut for a day where we get at least 2-3 inches of snow. I think I'm going to stop scheduling haircuts and then it might possibly be spring.
The title of this post comes from the weather forecast located on the right there.
1 to 20 inches???? I'm pretty sure that has got to be a typo, but…geeze. If it was actually true that's like the ultimate in weather man cop outs.
"It's going to snow tomorrow. Could be 1 inch, could be 2 feet. Hell if I know!"

*shiver*
Feb 5th
Ok, that's it. I'm tired of winter. When you wake up in the morning and it's -4F, it's time to take drastic measures. I quit winter! I'm done.
…
Ok, so that doesn't work real well…but man, I wish canada would keep it's cold air up there and not have to shove it down here every other week. It's their air, I'm more than happy to let them keep it up there where it feels safest.
There's been nothing much of interest to report over the past couple days. Work has been extremely hectic as our billing cycle and some reports that the upper management needed converged into the same time period and I had to do a lot of running around. As far as personal stuff goes, I've just been spending a lot of time working on my C++ programming and a little bit of time playing Mass Effect on my 360. I believe I'm almost done with Mass Effect, so expect a post with a really late review of that coming soonish.
Time marches onwards to the weekend, which I am looking forward to eagerly.

First Snow
Oct 28th
Well, I knew it was coming but I had hoped it would take a little longer to get here. It is now currently snowing for the first time this season. No accumulation, but there is definitely snowflakes coming down. I'm hoping it won't get too bad because I have some plans tomorrow which may get screwed up by the weather. It's looking fairly mild though.
I usually look forward to the first snow of the year, actually. There's nothing quite like it. But October is way too early. November is more my style. It shouldn't snow until after Halloween and it should only stay until January 1st. The rest of the year should be a snow free zone!
At least the weather is still looking good for the haunted house outing this Friday. Snow will not win!

I Could Do Without Winter
Feb 15th
If you live in the Northeastern United States, you probably know what I’m talking about, but we just had our very first major winter storm of the season blow through yesterday. I’m not sure what the official totals were, but I had about a foot of snow on my car when I went to brush it off this morning.
My back also aches from my 20 minute shoveling adventure to clear my porch and apartment steps off yesterday after I got home from work. I took some pictures yesterday, but they all turned out horrible (more horrible than normal in fact), so you’re just going to have to imagine what things looked like.
In addition, I got my car stuck in the driveway this morning, at the end where all the snow plows leave the snow they push off the road. It took 15 minutes and 2 neighbors to push my car out.
The best part of this is…we’re probably getting more lake effect snow tonight. Just what I wanted…more snow.
I’m Freeeee!! Well…Tonight Anyway…
Feb 8th
My school, for the first time I can remember, canceled night classes due to the threat of snow.
Usually it takes 2 feet on the roads, no plows, high winds, power outages, ice and perhaps some sort of structure fire on campus in order for them to even consider canceling classes.
I’m not asking questions…I’m just going to go with the flow.
Winter Hates Me
Jan 30th
The snow is out to get me.
We had a lake effect snow warning in effect for yesterday and part of this morning. I was hoping it was going to snow here early enough so that I wouldn’t have to go to class that night, because if there’s one thing worse than driving when the roads are all slick with snow, it’s driving at night with slick roads.
But what actually happened went something like this:
5pm – Leave work to go home and eat dinner. No snow.
5:30pm – Leave house. No snow.
6pm – Arrive at class, snow coming down lightly
7:15pm – The halfway point break in class where the professor says he might let us go early due to the weather
8:00pm – The professor begins the process of finishing out class. He’s about to let us go when some moron asks a question which causes him to launch into a 30 minute response.
8:40pm – Class dismissed. It’s snowing pretty good now, roads are pretty bad. Can’t even see the lanes on two the major highways I use to get home. Don’t even get me started on the back roads
9:20pm – What is normally a 20 minute drive takes 40 minutes. Snow still coming down pretty good when I walk in my front door.
10pm – Snow stops.
So, lets review. The snow starts too late for me to not go to class on account of weather, snows just long enough to make my drive home fun and then stops just as soon as I get home. Blargh!
Winter Wonderland
Jan 28th
I suddenly got a little more free time this weekend. After checking the road conditions, I rescheduled my trip over to fix the network of the person I work with (mentioned here).
Overall it’s been a really crappy weekend, weather-wise. The roads were ungood yesterday morning when I started off to meet up with my friends for the trip to the city. They were decent out there, but as soon as I started heading home again, they were horrible again. I enjoy snow on the ground, I just wish they invented some way to stop it from snowing on the roads.
Note to self: The Presidente Margarita from Chili’s is GOOD. Really good.
Anyway I’m glad that I’ve got the free time around here now to do my homework for my Western Civilization class because the reading is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. I’ve read two of the three assigned passages right now, but the third is roughly 40 pages long. Erasmus’ two forewords to the Latin translation of the New Testament, written by Desiderius Erasmus in 1516. This is going to be…fun. We need to pick out the thesis of each work, 3 or 4 important points and then write a statement that contains the overarching idea linking all three pieces together. That last bit is going to be the hard part I think…we’ll have to see.
The Weekend In A Nutshell
Jan 22nd
I was meaning to make a post earlier, but it kept slipping my mind, so I’ve got two days of catchup to play here.
I had some friends over to my place on Saturday where we tried out the new Warioware game for the Wii. It was incredibly fun in a group setting, although very Japanese and very disturbing. Some of the games are…odd… It’s short as well. I think we covered everything we could do in the single player game in the couple hours we played it. It’s still a great party game. I’ll probably pick it up before my next party type thing.
One casualty of Saturday was my wireless PS2 controller (Logitech’s). The X button started sticking which, as one would imagine, could be extremely annoying when trying to play games. But more on that later.
Sunday was taken up mostly by me playing Suikoden V through again. I finished it the first time, but I’m going back through to complete everything and recruit the 108 Stars because I missed a bunch last time through. I’m using the Brady Games guide which is really well done. I’m nearing the end (finally). Almost there…then I can start working on the pile of games that I’ve got on my to-play list.
Going back to the Logitech controller thing, I tried taking it apart yesterday morning to see if I could fix the button, but no dice. Two of those screws are in there tight and I can’t seem to find a way to get them out. Well…they unscrew a bit, but they don’t come completely out no matter what I do. So I hopped over to Best Buy and picked up a 6 foot extension cable for the Dual Shock controller because where I usually sit is just out of the range of the standard cable. I think I’m going to keep going with this system. Wireless is nice, but the Logitech controller (the best wireless one out there) doesn’t really match the quality of the dual shock controller.
And then this morning I slipped on the stairs when I was taking the garbage out and slid down about 4 steps. Sitting down is very painful at the moment and I think I may have gotten a very small stone embedded into my right pinky finger. Today is not starting off well.
