I’m Tired Of Making Up Topics…You Think Of One!
Feb 13th
I’ve noticed that I’ve been using excessive punctuation in my post titles recently, so I’m going to try and stop…
Anyway, I also just noticed that I’ve got this Monday off from work, due to President’s Day, but not off from school which I find a little strange. Maybe they’re trying to make up for the fact that class started on Tuesday instead of Monday, so the Monday classes lost a week.
Speaking of classes, last night was long. Kinda interesting, but long. We discussed Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing which I finished reading and “responding” to. I also got my assignment back from the first weeks which ended up being an A-, so I suppose I did all right on it.
Bah, I’ve got so much stuff to write about right now, I’m trying to section it out into topical posts so I don’t look like I’m rambling on. Which I probably do anyway…but…expect more later.
Sick = Bad
Feb 6th
It’s been a little while since I posted, but I’m sick now and I can’t sleep, so I figure now is as good a time as any. But more on that later.
This weekend was busy, as they seem to be these days. I hung out with some friends on Saturday and we worked out the general itinerary for the trip to Washington DC next month.
Sunday was mostly spent doing half of the required reading for my Western Civ class, and then going over to my parents to watch the Super Bowl that night. Not a terrible game, but not a good one either. And the commercials weren’t all that great. It was that night where I started to feel a little weird.
Cut to 3am Monday morning and I woke up with a stuffy nose and a headache. I tried to sleep again, but only managed a couple of hours here and there. I ended up calling in sick to work, which was also probably a good thing because we had a massive lake effect winter storm yesterday too, which may actually still be going on. I can’t tell since it’s dark out at the moment. My temperature kept fluctuating yesterday, between 97 and 101 F, and I slept a whole bunch. The one good thing I can say about yesterday was Nintendo released Super Mario World (the SNES game) on the virtual console, so I was able to get some quality time in while laying down on the couch. Oh, and they canceled night classes yesterday, so the fact that I wasn’t able to finish the homework wasn’t much of a problem.
I woke up at 3 again this morning and haven’t been able to get back to sleep yet. I think I’m going to call in sick again today…
Winter Wonderland
Jan 28th
I suddenly got a little more free time this weekend. After checking the road conditions, I rescheduled my trip over to fix the network of the person I work with (mentioned here).
Overall it’s been a really crappy weekend, weather-wise. The roads were ungood yesterday morning when I started off to meet up with my friends for the trip to the city. They were decent out there, but as soon as I started heading home again, they were horrible again. I enjoy snow on the ground, I just wish they invented some way to stop it from snowing on the roads.
Note to self: The Presidente Margarita from Chili’s is GOOD. Really good.
Anyway I’m glad that I’ve got the free time around here now to do my homework for my Western Civilization class because the reading is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. I’ve read two of the three assigned passages right now, but the third is roughly 40 pages long. Erasmus’ two forewords to the Latin translation of the New Testament, written by Desiderius Erasmus in 1516. This is going to be…fun. We need to pick out the thesis of each work, 3 or 4 important points and then write a statement that contains the overarching idea linking all three pieces together. That last bit is going to be the hard part I think…we’ll have to see.
