Time To Jinx It
Aug 17th 2010
Nearly every time I’ve mentioned that I’m trying to lose weight again on my blog, it ends in miserable failure. So this time I’ve waited about a month’s worth of progress to actually say anthing.
So yeah, I’m trying to lose weight again. Last time I did this (successfully) I was down to under 250 before I fell off the bandwagon, but since then I’ve gained back the 25-30 pounds I lost and put on another 25 to boot. I’m tired of this and at the urging of a friend of mine (Kris) I’ve joined him in his attempt to lose weight as well (strength in numbers!) and so far I’ve dropped about 5 pounds, just with modifying my diet. So yay! Once I start evening off I plan on reintroducing exercise to help break through the plateau situation.
So…so far so good. Hopefully I can keep this up. I’ve seen the first visible progress of things so far because I was able to tighten my belt another notch. Seeing the numbers go down on the scale is one thing, but noticing that you need to tighten your belt or your pants are going to fall off is a much cooler sign.
Getting Back In The Habit
Jan 3rd 2009
Ok…here we are again. I know I've made these posts before but, it's time to make another one. I've really been pretty bad about my quest to lose some weight recently. I haven't gained it all back yet, but it's starting to get pretty darn close and I need to put a stop to it now. So I'm officially back on the weight loss wagon…well…starting tomorrow. I'm over at my friends at the moment and we're doing sort of a massive get together thing, which is going to prevent me from eating as well as I should.
But I have a gym membership now and I'm going to start going Sunday. Also on my list of things to do: For the love of all that is good in the world…stop buying donuts thinking I can ration myself this time…that this time will be different. I need to get back to basics, eating better and exercising more. So…it starts! Again!
Where'd That Gym Come From?
Dec 17th 2008
Last night when Wassy and I were headed out to Applebee's, she was driving past what I thought was an empty shopping center that had been closed forever. However, something was different this time around…this time there were cars in the parking lot and lights on one of the buildings. In fact, it was a brand new Planet Fitness location!
I had been really wanting a gym in the area for a looong time, so I'm pretty excited to finally have a decent option that's about a 10 minute drive away. Close enough where I'm pretty much guaranteed to actually go if I get a membership. Which I'm planning on doing very soon as their prices are really affordable too.
The weird part is…I never saw them constructing the place. I was even in the city on Monday and never even saw the place. Then suddenly, it's there. I think somebody just dropped it out of the sky and it happened to land there. So yay to having a good gym in the neighborhood now!
Project Weight Loss: Week 15, 16 and 17
May 12th 2008
On the down side, I had my first spike above the average weight line in this period, but I think that was just a fluke as I believe I had forgotten to weigh myself before eating breakfast.
Project Weight Loss: Week 13 and 14 + Walking
Apr 21st 2008
It seems I forgot to do a post for last week, so I'm going to be doing a combined post. It's been a bit of a rocky road over the past few weeks due to stress and/or lack of time to exercise. I managed to get off my long standing plateau of just above 250 and now I've traded that in for one just below 250. But I haven't really been exercising as much as I would like to be as of late. Hopefully that will change once school is over and I have some more free time to play with. At least I'm maintaining which is a good thing in my book.
The warmer weather recently has highlighted that I need to go shopping for a couple pairs of shorts. I seem to only have size 42 and size 38, one of which is way too big for me and the other is a little tight right now. I must have either tossed the 40s or my swing in weight totally skipped a size in between a summer.
And because of the warmer weather, I've been walking outside for the past couple of weeks when I have the time to go out and walk. Partially to help build up some endurance for the trip out to Washington DC coming up in a little more than month and partially to get some more different and/or outdoor type activities going to keep things interesting.
This friday though I kinda walked a little longer than I had meant to. There's a couple of different routes I can take around where I live. I usually just do an out and back kinda thing that works out to be about 3 miles total. Friday though I decided to try walking around the loop, as there's a couple of streets that form kinda a ring. I'm in a pretty rural area, so this isn't a small loop. Roughly five to five and a half miles to be exact. So an hour and twenty minutes later, I had almost finished. I stopped into my parents house for some water because I didn't have any cold water at my place and they're just down the road from me and practically collapsed on the living room floor. That's not something I really care to do again in the near future. Maybe once I build up my endurance a bit…
New shoes would be helpful too. My current shoes are a little on the old side and really aren't terribly supportive anymore. So I just purchased a new pair of New Balance MW792's to fix that problem. They should be here Wednesday. Since my size is 13 and I need a wide, it's a little hard to find decent walking shoes in a store, so I usually have to internet order stuff. Darn genetics.
Project Weight Loss: Week 12
Apr 7th 2008
Well, it seems I vanished again for another week. I didn't intend to, I was just busy again with various things and didn't feel like blogging. But another week, another empty promise to keep things going around here!
It does seem though, that my plateau thingy is on it's way out the door. I've started going down steadily again, slowly but it's moving in a downward direction. I've gone past 250 for the first time in a while which is a good feeling for me.
Since the weather is warming up I'm going to start doing more stuff outside. I need to get my bike down from my parents house and get it tuned up I think. It's been a while since I've used it and it could probably use some attention from a bike shop to make sure everything is running smoothly. I've also started doing some walking around the streets here which is a nice change of pace from being stuck indoors all the time.
So hopefully I'm back on track to keep losing. I haven't really set a goal weight for myself yet. Just…to weigh less.
Project Weight Loss: Week 11
Mar 31st 2008
Just a quick note before I get going here…yep, I'm still alive, but various things last week have either prevented me from having the time to blog about stuff or shouldn't really be mentioned in the first place. So I've been quiet for a bit. Hopefully this week I'll be able to get back to normal.
As you can see by the chart, my weight loss attempts haven't really gotten back to normal either. I'm still trending down slightly which is a good thing (I'm not going up at least!) but things have been pretty steady. for the past couple weeks.
It's another week of saying, oh well and hoping I get back on track. We'll see what next week brings.

Project Weight Loss: Week 10 – Stalled Edition
Mar 24th 2008
As I mentioned last week, my progress with weight loss has been slowed a bit. Actually you could say it's been at a standstill. I've been fluctuating in the same area for about 2 weeks now, and it started about when I started feeling kinda blah about my life's situation at the moment, as well as when all of the school stuff hit me.

Project Weight Loss: Week 9
Mar 17th 2008
My problem is that I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to do my exercising like I should be doing. I dunno if it's boredom or what. I'm finding riding the bike to be uncomfortable for longer periods of time which I think is part of the problem. I need to find a new thing to do when I don't feel like punching imaginary objects like a mental patient.
On the plus side though, I've dusted off some shirts that I haven't wore in quite some time and they're starting to fit me again. Very handy since I was running out of decent shirts to wear before I started doing this.
Onward and upward to next week I'd imagine. Hopefully it's better than this week was.
Project Weight Loss: Week 8
Mar 10th 2008
I've been switching up what I've been doing as far as exercise the past couple of weeks. Sometimes I'll ride the bike, other days I'll do a Tae Bo tape or something. Just to keep things different and so that my body's not getting used to one particular type of activity.
I'm expecting my first plateau to be shortly. I'm surprised I haven't really hit one as of yet. That's pretty unusual for me anyway.
I'm going to settle on an estimated 280 pounds being my starting point, which means that I'm coming up on my 25 pound marker soon. I actually passed it this morning but that was a pretty deep drop so I'm assuming right now that it's just a fluctuation.
