It's Coming!!!
0I had a fairly busy weekend this week. I'm trying to get all of my last
minute trip preparation stuff out of the way plus I had to do some
homework for this week since my spring break is over. Drat. Nothing
like spending 3 days of your spring break feeling like crap.
I'm going to be keeping myself busy this week too. Class tonight, my
rescheduled midterm for my desktop publishing/graphic design class
tomorrow night, running around and doing all of the really last minute
stuff on Wednesday such as packing and getting the GPS all ready to go.
I'm also on a little bit of a home redecoration kick. I just replaced
this strange end table thing with a built in lamp that I've had since I
moved in with an actual end table and a real lamp! The new thing looks
much nicer. I need to get something to go up on the wall in that corner
though…It's looking a little bit bare over there. I've also swapped
out my garbage can, although you're probably not quite as interested in
hearing about that…
New Toy Time!
0
Considering I'm going on the trip to washington DC in a few weeks and I've been working up the courage to purchase a
digital camera for myself because of the crappyness of my Treo 650's built in camera…I treated myself to a new toy tonight.
Well, it wasn't entirely my doing alone. One of my friends helped with the rationalizing procedure. Anyway…yeah…I'm the proud owner of a new Canon SD600 digital camera. This thing is so awesomely tiny. The picture quality rocks as well. I'm still getting used to it, but I took a few shots after the battery charged up just to play around a little bit. Yes, I know my TV is really dusty.
This also gave me a chance to try out iPhoto on my MacBook Pro which worked really, really well. I'm impressed so far, but no time for me to gush totally right now. I leave you with a few pictures that I took tonight when I was playing around.

Sick = Bad
0It’s been a little while since I posted, but I’m sick now and I can’t sleep, so I figure now is as good a time as any. But more on that later.
This weekend was busy, as they seem to be these days. I hung out with some friends on Saturday and we worked out the general itinerary for the trip to Washington DC next month.
Sunday was mostly spent doing half of the required reading for my Western Civ class, and then going over to my parents to watch the Super Bowl that night. Not a terrible game, but not a good one either. And the commercials weren’t all that great. It was that night where I started to feel a little weird.
Cut to 3am Monday morning and I woke up with a stuffy nose and a headache. I tried to sleep again, but only managed a couple of hours here and there. I ended up calling in sick to work, which was also probably a good thing because we had a massive lake effect winter storm yesterday too, which may actually still be going on. I can’t tell since it’s dark out at the moment. My temperature kept fluctuating yesterday, between 97 and 101 F, and I slept a whole bunch. The one good thing I can say about yesterday was Nintendo released Super Mario World (the SNES game) on the virtual console, so I was able to get some quality time in while laying down on the couch. Oh, and they canceled night classes yesterday, so the fact that I wasn’t able to finish the homework wasn’t much of a problem.
I woke up at 3 again this morning and haven’t been able to get back to sleep yet. I think I’m going to call in sick again today…
Blah. That About Sums It Up
0The last real update I threw up here was on Monday, so I feel compelled to post again.
I had class Monday night. It’s a Western Civilization course which consists of reading a lot of the stuff written by the great thinkers of the western world and trying to figure out what lead them to their ideas and such. The teacher sounds awesome. The 3 hours I was there just flew by. I found a good teacher…amazing isn’t it? It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of work, but it’s going to be a lot of interesting work.
Tuesday was…not a good day. If you recall, I fell down the stairs Monday morning and my tailbone was bugging me all day. Well, it got worse on Tuesday. I even passed on going home for lunch because I didn’t want to get in and out of my car more than I had to. Other than that, an overall unremarkable day.
Today, I work up feeling better. Not nearly as sore as before. A very, very busy day at work that I thought would never end. I IMed a friend around 3pm: “Please tell me it’s not really 3pm and that my clock is slow” “Actually, I’ve got 2:58 here” “…You’re not helping”. It finally did end and here I am, relaxing at home, not wanting to look at another piece of code until at least tomorrow.
I’ve got a growing laundry list of things I need to do. Call the bank, call cingular to change my cell phone’s rate plan from a regional plan to a national plan, call the hotel I made reservations at for the Washington DC trip to make sure they’ve got the reservations, call my high school to get my transcript sent to my college so I can skip out of the foreign language requirement…
Sigh…I wish this stuff would just do itself.
Dreading The Afternoon
0Today’s the day of the big Macworld keynote, my first since becoming what could only be described as a switcher. I’m not sure how it happened, but after getting my MacBook Pro, I’ve slid pretty far into the Apple camp. This isn’t anything I would have said a few years ago, being a die-hard PC guy.
Anyway, I’m afraid of the afternoon because I’m terrified Steve is going to get up on stage an announce something that I absolutely need to have when I’m trying to save money for the DC trip in march.
Speaking of the DC trip, we finally got hotel reservations after a little hiccup with travelocity over the weekend. I’m fairly certain I’m not going to use them again, considering they passed off the standard hotel rates as their special negotiated discount rates and because of that, required payment up front in full when I could have just gone to the hotels website directly and got the same rate without needing to pay until the trip actually happened. Granted that was sort of my fault as well for not reading the fine print, but it still strikes me as a little sleazy.
It’s Quiet…Too Quiet
0There’s been some talk about a possible roadtrip with a couple friends down to Washington DC in March. I haven’t been on anything that could be termed as a real, live vacation in quite some time so I’m really hoping that this actually happens. I had no idea that there was an International Spy Museum in DC…or, well, anywhere for that matter.
Plans are in the early stages at the moment since I want to see what’s going on with school, but I’m looking forward to it already.
Nothing else that’s really new to report. It’s been a quiet couple days after the whirlwind of activity from the past couple weeks, which leaves me with not much to write about. I’ve just been playing a lot of Zelda for the Wii and Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time for the DS which is a fun, quirky RPG type game. The Mario RPG franchise of games has yet to disappoint me.
