Caught In The Whirlwind

Uh Oh
Sep 24th
First off, the training yesterday went pretty well. Aside from the fact I forgot the password of the account I created about 15 seconds earlier, everything else went smoothly. Not something I’d like to be doing all the time or anything though…
But now to the title of the post. As I mentioned earlier, my friends and I are planning on journeying south to Philadelphia to catch a concert and visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Well, Jay has now developed a stomach bug which we’re hoping does not infect the rest of us and put the trip in danger. He always seems to develop some sort of stomach bug before a concert since the same thing happened before we went to see Trans Siberian Orchestra last year. Here’s hoping everything turns out ok.
And also on the not so good things track, my body has decided that it enjoys waking up at 3am. For the past week I’ve been getting up around the same time in the middle of the night, much to my dismay. It’s really screwing up my sleep schedule and I wish it would stop happening. It would be nice to be able to sleep through the entire night…
Gaming All Night Long. And Then Some.
Oct 8th
My weekend was taken up by what has been called the long awaited Gaming Sleep-over. I basically went over to my friends new apartment for the whole weekend and played console games all day (and night) which was fun.
Lots of games were played, including Metroid Prime 3, Lego Star Wars II, Soul Calibur….THREE!, Guitar Hero 1 and 2, Parasite Eve and last, but not least, the GameCube remake of Resident Evil.
Really, the whole event seemed to be designed around me trying to play Resident Evil (survival horror zombie infested game) which I think was disappointing for the spectators. Instead of being totally petrified, I ended up being frustrated with the controls and running around like a drunk person an awful lot. Watching Jason play however, was fun. There was a lot of that on Sunday (since we didn't start actually playing Resident Evil until midnight anyway).
One of the best moments of the event was when Jason took over for me playing Resident Evil because I sucked at it and died way too much. He wandered around the mansion, looking for a zombie to do in. He found one, and this exchange (paraphrased) occurred:
All right zombie! You better be ready because you're facing a PRO now! Lets go!
*gunshots*
*zombie chomping sound*AHHHHHHHHH, THE PAIN, THE PAIN!!
*blood spraying everywhere*
*game over*
So THAT'S how the pro's do it! I'll have to keep that in mind.
Metroid was a nice surprise. I was kinda hesitant about getting it myself due to the controls. I'm not really a FPS on a game console type person. Mouse and keyboard for life! But the wii remote really works well for aiming and the controls were fairly responsive. I think I'm going to have to purchase it. Very nice environment graphics as well.
Another moment, that sadly, I feel I need to report is when Jason and I were playing Soul Calibur. I'm horrible at fighting games you see. I win here and there, but usually…lets just say the results aren't pretty. At one point my opponent decided to stop using the built in characters and have the game randomly design one, which is how I ended up fighting "The Leprechaun" Picture this. green shoes. green pantaloons, green gloves, no shirt and a hat that looks like it was stolen from the Lucky Charms guy. And yep, I lost to this guy, who did a little dance after he beat me up. Sigh.
Sunday we had a big breakfast when we all woke up, soo…around 1pm. I went to bed around 3am and Jason went to bed about a half hour before that. The full breakfast with blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast…the whole 9 yards. I was still full when I would normally eat dinner, but it was good.
After that, we watched Jason play some more Resident Evil until I decided that I really, really had to go do the laundry I was putting off. I'm borrowing Parasite Eve from them which is a fun sort of survival horror themed game with RPG elements, so I'm playing that in my free time.
Now onward to today. I'm probably going to call Canon this afternoon and order a replacement LCD for my camera since I sorta broke it a while back. Then I'm going fish shopping this evening to get a new fish (going for a Dwarf Gourami I think) to replace my MIA Zebra Danios.
The Result of Sleeping In
Nov 15th
On Saturday I was supposed to wake up in the morning and take my car in to get an oil change, and a state inspection since it’s due this month. Plus put on some snow tires. Note the key phrase in there “supposed to”. I forgot to set my alarm and slept right on through the appointment, so that means tonight I have to meet my dad out there and leave my car so they can do everything tomorrow. Then pick it up later.
So I’m out a car tonight and tomorrow morning. I believe the plan is my mom is going to drive me to work. Anyway, on the bright side, at least I get to go out to dinner with my parents tonight after we drop the car off. Yay! (Any time I don’t have to eat my cooking…it’s a good thing)
QotD: Right Before I Doze Off
Sep 26th
What’s the last thing you usually do or think about before you fall asleep?
Some days I read a little from a book until I become too tired to actually read anything effectively. Other days I grab my iPod and listen to music until I fall asleep. It really depends on my mood at the time. I just can’t climb into bed and fall asleep though, unless I’m really tired. I need to do some sort of pre-bedtime activity to mentally prepare myself for sleep I guess would be the right term.
A buffer zone, if you will.
