I’m Tired Of Making Up Topics…You Think Of One!
Feb 13th 2007
I’ve noticed that I’ve been using excessive punctuation in my post titles recently, so I’m going to try and stop…
Anyway, I also just noticed that I’ve got this Monday off from work, due to President’s Day, but not off from school which I find a little strange. Maybe they’re trying to make up for the fact that class started on Tuesday instead of Monday, so the Monday classes lost a week.
Speaking of classes, last night was long. Kinda interesting, but long. We discussed Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing which I finished reading and “responding” to. I also got my assignment back from the first weeks which ended up being an A-, so I suppose I did all right on it.
Bah, I’ve got so much stuff to write about right now, I’m trying to section it out into topical posts so I don’t look like I’m rambling on. Which I probably do anyway…but…expect more later.
Thank You Sparknotes!

In the process of being sick this week, I kinda forgot that I was supposed to read Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing for my Western Civilization class Monday.
I do enjoy Shakespeare, when I can understand it. Heck, I read Macbeth just for fun. My problem comes in when the language barrier gets in the way of meaning. And today, I needed to understand the play…very quickly. So I picked up the sparknotes version from the No Fear Shakespeare series. I’d like to find the man who came up with the idea of printing a modern English version of the play next to the original text.
Sure it’s cheating! But I had a need! As far as the actual play was concerned, I’m more of a fan of the tragedies. The fact that nothing much really occured in the play aside from a misunderstanding didn’t make it the most interesting thing I’ve ever read.
Now I need to respond to one of the issues raised in the play…or something. I think I found a point I can respond to, but this one wasn’t the easiest assignment to do. Too bad I wasn’t in another group. The teacher split the class up into three groups, and each week there’s 3 types of assignments to do. We rotate through them. A summary of the assigned readings, a comparison of one reading to another and a response to one of the main points raised in one of the readings. I happened to pull response this time around. Ugh.
