Randomly Walking Through Nature
May 11th 2009
It's been another good weekend for me, and as per usual lately, I forgot to write about it. I'll try to get back into the habit of keeping this up to date again. I started doing it then the move happened and I didn't have time and I never got back into the habit… Ah well, time to start again.
Anyway, the Friday party was a success. Lots of relaxation type stuff happening when it was much needed. Some City of Villains being played, some Rock Band and Guitar Hero. And much unhealthy food and drink was consumed.
Which is why I decided that on Saturday, I'd head back to the gym to try to get a habit going again, especially now that I have my iPod Nano. I had a good workout but I realized that I would probably need to get an armband thingy. The Nano has the headphone jack on the bottom and it makes it hard to set it down on machines while I'm exercising.
After the Gym, most of the day was spent up in the office working on my C# programming. I ended up doing a lot of good work on FrostBot, my AI chatbot project. On sunday I actually got it talking…sort of. It needs some improvements, but it actually works!!
Returning to Saturday though, Guitar Hero: Metallica came in through GameFly…a game that I was waiting to play. Wassy and I played some of that in the evening. It's a very very good game. All the songs I played were fun, the atmosphere is awesome and it even has the orchestra in it! All together, I think I'll be buying it. I'll play it enough to make it worth while.
Oh yes, I also started restocking my 20 gallon fish tank on saturday. I went out fish browsing with the intent to research things out, but the fish store had 2 bleeding heart tetras in stock and I had a school that was severely lacking in members, so I bought them. They integrated well with the existing fish and now I have a little school of 4 tetras swimming around in there. I want to get one other school of stuff before I'm finished.
Sunday, aside from finishing off FrostBot, my friends and I wandered around in search of a good place to walk. We ended up stumbling upon a local town park that has a really cool nature trail that isn't too far away. Win! We'll be going back there for walking frequently through the summer I think. It's a nice walk through the woods and it even runs along a creek for a little ways. The creek has a ton of tires and crap it in it…but it's still a creek!
That's about it for the weekend. Like I said, I'll try to write more frequently if I can. Hopefully I can at least get back to at least a couple posts per day.

Ultra Hanging Out
Jan 22nd 2009
Last night I went over to my friends apartment for some mid week hanging out. And massive hanging out it was…we didn't really have anything planned except to grab dinner at an authentic indian restaurant in the area and hang out after doing…whatever.
The Indian food was good. My friends got me to try it a few weeks ago, and I ended up liking it well enough to return there. It's set up as an all you can eat buffet type deal so you can try a little bit of everything to find something you might like. They also have great service, making sure your water is refilled and pointing out foods you might enjoy and serving things right to the table…inclding Naan…mmm…Naan… I think we scared one of the waiters when he brought over a basket of Naan, asked if we would like some and Wassy said "YES!" I think he was just going to give us each a piece but he decided to just drop the whole basket off and practically ran away..scared for his life.
Another interesting note is as we were finishing up, I had a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and one of my bosses was standing there (he is of Indian descent, so I suppose I should have expected he would eat there) wondering what I was doing. Aparantly, I didn't strike him as somebody who would experiment with indian food. It seems he was wrong.
After that we went back to my friends apartment and hung out. Massive hanging out. Wassy and I were playing Star Ocean Second Evolution for the PSP and watching TV while Jay was doing laundry…just sort of a normal hanging out sort of situation. At one point there was a trip to the grocery store…
Just some nice relaxation in the middle of the week..which as always, feels like it's very, very long…
Four Day Weekends Are Win
Oct 27th 2008
Well, I've been pretty silent over the past 4 days because I kinda took a little break from everything. This weekend was intended to be a period of recharging and it worked out quite nicely.
The main event was friday and Saturday where my friends and I had planned an overnight stay sort of hanging out type thing. I was to bring my 360 and Rock Band 2 along with Mario Kart for the Wii and some slasher type movies to fit in with the time of year (along with a turkey dinner and some pumpkin spice beer which turned out to be an excellent combination). Also a lot of candy corn and root beer floats to round out the excessive amounts of sugar.
The event turned out very well. The Rock Band-ing took main stage and we spent an awful lot of time just having fun playing with that. I ended up mostly playing guitar, Wassy handled the drums and Jay did a lot of the vocals although we switched up a bit so everybody did something at least once. By far the highlight of the night was when Jay did the vocals to the Beastie Boy's "So What'cha Want?" as if he was a shakespearian actor rapping. It was so hard to keep playing and at the end of the song I was rolling on the floor laughing. We had to call an intermission so that we could all stop laughing.
Wassy and I also spent a lot of time playing the two Dream Theater tracks. By the end of Saturday, we must have played Constant Motion and Panic Attack at least 10-11 times each. It's nice to see a band like Dream Theater in one of these games.
As far as the movies go, it was my first time seeing Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream. I think out of the 3, I enjoyed Scream the most because it kept me guessing more than the others as to what would happen. But they were all good movies, especially for watching this time of year with all the Halloween stuff going on. We had intended to head out to a haunted house as well, but we got rained out (the place is mostly outdoors). We're going to attempt to go friday this week instead. So far the weather is looking much better for that. I've never been one for scary things (too chicken) but my friends are slowly turning me around on that.
Sunday was just a lot of hanging around and relaxing for me. So not much to say there. It was just a really nice and relaxing weekend, and I'm very sad that it's monday now

Yet Another Weekend Update
Aug 25th 2008
Remember last week when I said I would stop doing these gigantic condensed weekend posts? Well, that'll be starting next week apparently.
Friday
Friday was the day of the company picnic, which I mostly look forward to only because I get paid for going to a park for 4 hours. I'm not a very social creature you see. My mom (for those who don't know she also works here) ended up bringing Beasely (the puppy) along so at least there was something to do for a while. I mostly spent a lot of time wandering around with the dog. Which is a fine conversation started by the way. People always want to know how old she is and such.
The one thing I should mention would be the egg toss contest. These were some really, really tough eggs. People were tossing them straight up in the air as far as they could throw them and they were bouncing when they hit the ground. So needless to say, this event took quite a long time to complete.
By the time we had to leave, I was totally beat and felt just like sleeping when I got home, but I somehow managed to stay awake and get in a little work on my various projects before I realized that I was just too tired to get anything useful done.
Saturday
The main plans for Saturday involved getting together with my friends for general hanging out. We watched some more anime stuff. Ah! My Goddess this time which was pretty good. I can see it has potential for being pretty entertaining. Then some more MST3K and a couple episodes of season 2 of Dexter which were very good. I highly recommend checking out Dexter if you've never seen the show. There was some frozen margarita action going on too, which served to make the suggested Trivial Persuit game later in the evening very entertaining (as per usual with such things). All in all not a lot to discuss but it was very relaxing.
Sunday
Sunday was going to be my serious work day. But first I had to spend an hour in grocery store hell. Seriously, it was every single slow moving and inconsiderate person on the face of the planet. It started out when the deli counter person who was waiting on me couldn't find anything I asked for. And thought that ham (what I didn't want) was turkey (what I did want). It was…not fun. That was followed by getting held up by people who park their carts diagonally across the asile, People who stop at the entrence to every asile in the middle of the store to check their shopping list blocking everyone behind them. The lady who paid by check. The lady with the wad of coupons. The person who wouldn't move their cart so I could start unloading my groceries. And finally, the woman who decided she would wait for her husband to bring the car around by standing in the doorway and parking her cart so nobody could get through. It was not a pleasant experience by any stretch of the imagination.
However, I managed to escape and got home to work on Wassy's website a bit more. I made some pretty good progress before I had exceded my limit for useful time worked and then spent the rest of the evening watching the closing ceremony for the olympics which was…cracked out as per usual. The chinese really do know how to put on a good show though. The amount of planning this must have taken is amazing. I'm really sad to see the olympics go because I thought it was a pretty fun year and a good year for the games in general.
So that was basically my weekend. Hopefully I'll be motivated to split it out to seperate posts next weekend because it's the weekend of the state fair.
