Resting
Aug 21st 2009
The last couple days haven’t been terribly eventful. I’ve basically been taking it easy so my foot can work on getting healed up, hopefully in time to do some walking around the state fair on Friday. It’s going to be cutting it close, but…we’ll see. It’s about the same as it has been. Not painful unless I’m walking on it. I’m also able to move my toes much more than when I had initially injured it, so that’s some progress. Not related to the fracture, I would imagine…probably some of the other damage that’s been healing up.
I also have an update on Fish. After I changed his water he seems to be happier. He’s spending more time swimming around and being happy and less sulking at the bottom. I’m trying to keep an eye on him though, just in case he’s really sick.
Lets see here…what else is going on… My roommates bought season 3 of Dexter, the Showtime series about everybody’s favorite serial killer. If you haven’t had a chance to see this show I would highly recommend giving it a try. Seasons 1 and 2 are availible on Netflix Instant Watch if you have that option.
And finally, it’s less than a week until I start school again. It still doesn’t feel like it’s something I’m really going to be doing. It feels like it’s much further away than next week.
QotD: All My Pets

How many pets have you owned in your lifetime? Tell us about them.

I’m not big on pets. I don’t get along well with animals since I always think they’re going to rip my throat out or something.
I’ve had four pets in my lifetime, one of them was before I could really remember it, so that doesn’t count.
The first one I can remember is Nikki. She was a Samoyed…very shaggy white fur. She was an older dog when we got her, which means she was pretty calm. I really liked her since she just kinda sat there with you, happy to just hang out and not trying to run all over the place and jump on people. We had to put her down due to some disease…I forget what happened at this point. But that was the only time I’ve cried due to the death of a pet. Nikki was an awesome dog.
The second pet we had after that was a cat. I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the cat but she became my nemesis. The years that we had that cat were terrorizing for me. She was a little ball of energy, always running around, jumping on things, scratching stuff…I stayed mostly in my room with the door shut all the time, just so I could avoid her. She had a habit of running up to me as if she was going to leap on me, just so I’d dive for cover and she could take my chair. She also snuck up behind me one time behind some curtains and started whacking me in the back of the head. I was not amused. Eventually, after much deliberation, we gave her back to the humane society since things obviously weren’t working out…
Pet #3 was Kobe. A little puppy when we got him (like the cat, also my sisters idea). I hated this one too. Ran around too much, was generally a pain in the butt and loved to jump all over everything. After my sister started going out with her current finance, we gave the dog to them because she was over there more than she was here and they could honestly take care of the dog better than we could.
Sigh. I miss Nikki. Every other pet I’ve had has been a complete disaster. I’ve thought about maybe getting a cat at some point, maybe trying that again. We’ll see…I can’t have pets in my apartment right now anyway
