No Air Conditioning…

The power is back on. The air conditioning, however, is not. If you’re wondering why this is a problem in late October, well…the room I’m in has about 8 laptops/desktops and 1 server in it. These computers, plus the people, put out a lot of heat, so it could be the middle of winter and without the AC it’d be 90 in here. It’s quite amazing.
Something with the power outage this morning messed up the AC, so now it’s 80 degrees and still climbing. Not sure what happened. The hallway is much cooler than our room here. It’s going to be a looong day.
At least I can actually get stuff done now though

I’m a guy. We get in, we get what we want and we get out. No day long shopping trips, no looking around…nothing. I guess my favorite thing would be electronics equipment since I’m a gadget freak, but I’ve generally got a pretty good idea of what I want to get before I jump in.
I do enjoy speccing out computers though. Lots of fun in there with picking out the various parts and finding things that work well together. Hey, I’m a geek, what did you expect?
Crusade Against Capslock!
0Pieter Hintjens has a beef. And it’s with the capslock key. He’s started a grassroots campaign on Google Groups and in his blog. I can’t say I really blame him since I can’t remember the last time I actually used the key for anything important.
Sure, some people might object…there’s some actual legitimate uses of the capslock key out there (No, that doesn’t include chatting in all caps on message boards and chat rooms 
). I think eliminating the caps lock key would make the Internet a better place. Well, that and some sort of a boxing glove that comes out of the screen and smacks people in the face if they type in all caps all the time.
And while we’re crusading against the caps lock key, can we look a little bit below it and start an offshoot anti-windows key campaign too?

What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?
I’m currently not subscribed to any magazines, so I’ll go through the list of the ones that I would be subscribed to if I had the cash for it
- PC Gamer - I’ve always been a gamer at heart, and PC Gamer is by far the best PC games related magazine out there. It doesn’t try to be all in your face about stuff. It’s very professional, and yet, entertaining at the same time
- Maximum PC - A very cool magazine that delves more into the more complicated tech aspects of computers. Motherboard reviews, overclocking, tweaking, you name it. It’s kinda thin though, for the price, but good content anyway
- Wizard – THE source for news on what’s going on in the world of mainstream comics. The coverage is pretty Marvel/DC centered, but there’s some other stuff in there too. Plus it’s an entertaining read.
