Busy Weekend (But Not As Busy As Next)
Aug 23rd 2010
So this weekend was an unexpectedly busy weekend for me.
Saturday evening we went to my roommate’s sister’s engagement celebration get together. I was figuring we’d stay for a couple hours, have a good time and then go home but we ended up staying past midnight and having a very fun time hanging out, eating, drinking and chatting with various people.
Sunday saw me going along with my roommates as they went to some open houses. They’re looking at buying a house as soon as humanly possible (for a lot of various reasons that I don’t feel like getting into. Basically the situation in the apartment is kinda awful between our neighbors and the building management not doing anything. I don’t really want to go into it because I’m tired of talking about it.) so they went to some open houses to see what’s what. The two we went to yesterday weren’t really great prospects. One had an awesome lot but the house itself was really old and needed a TON of work, in addition to the rooms being tiny and the floorplan being pretty…bad. The second’s downstairs was good but the upstairs suffered from the same “tiny room” syndrome and it needed waaaay more work to get going. But it had potential for future improvements. Neither seemed to be a potential leading contender in the search though.
However, that was nothing compared to my activities next weekend:
- Saturday 3 concert at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY. Going with Wassy and driving back after (probably won’t get home until around 2am-ish)
- Sunday Family Reunion gathering at Wetstone Gulf State Park, probably going a little more in the afternoon so I can sleep in after the late night driving.
And then, not the weekend but, September 2nd I’m going to see Rush at the State Fair. Woo!

Ok, that's it. I'm tired of winter. When you wake up in the morning and it's -4F, it's time to take drastic measures. I quit winter! I'm done.
…
Ok, so that doesn't work real well…but man, I wish canada would keep it's cold air up there and not have to shove it down here every other week. It's their air, I'm more than happy to let them keep it up there where it feels safest.
There's been nothing much of interest to report over the past couple days. Work has been extremely hectic as our billing cycle and some reports that the upper management needed converged into the same time period and I had to do a lot of running around. As far as personal stuff goes, I've just been spending a lot of time working on my C++ programming and a little bit of time playing Mass Effect on my 360. I believe I'm almost done with Mass Effect, so expect a post with a really late review of that coming soonish.
Time marches onwards to the weekend, which I am looking forward to eagerly.

End of Semester Crush: An Update
Nov 30th 2007
As I mentioned previously, there's 2 weeks left in this semester and as such, I'm currently buried in schoolwork. Most pressing on my mind at this point is my Software Engineering project which is going to be a tremendous amount of work to do in the two weeks I have left. Yesterday though, the professor told us the due date which is the day after the final (December 12th) which was about a week later than I thought the due date was going to be. I'm a bit more relaxed about that project now.
Moving into World Religions, I have an essay test due next week on Judaism/Christianity/Islam all combined because she ran out of time to talk about them. I think it's the two classes we spent on the introduction and the 2 we used on indigenous/native american religion. Whatever the case is, I need to write 4 essays, although the topics are fairly easy this time out. For example…name the 10 commandments and describe them. My theory is since we only had 4 exams and we were supposed to have 6, she wants another grade before the end of the semester.
And after that, the week after my 8 page paper on the various creation stories is due. Fun fun fun!
Very Busy…
Nov 8th 2007
It's been a busy couple days so I haven't had time to post much. I've been running around to school and busy writing papers for my World Religion class, trying to finish Software Engineering assignments that I can see taking up way too much of my time in the near future. Tonight is the first chance I've had to really relax since Monday night. A friend of mine is coming over to hang out for a while.
The Software Engineering thing is worthy of a little rant. The professor for this course is a little Indian guy. At least I think he's from India. He speaks with a very heavy accent and says an awful lot of "Umm…ahhh…err" when he's talking. He also tries to get lecture done as fast as possible. I think I've mentioned this before, but for the past couple weeks we've been getting out of class after about 30-40 minutes of lecture. Not that I'm complaining of course…but he's practically out the door before the students realize the class is over.
He's also incredibly annoying when it comes to homework assignments. They have to be named specifically, submitted in a specific way and if one thing is done wrong in regards to how the assignment was submitted, even if it's minor, he won't grade the assignment, period. He is so incredibly annoying with this. He rejected one of our assignments becasue it wasn't in a folder on the cd. So make a folder and stick it in there! Ughh. I've had just about as much as I can stand from this guy.
A quick car update: Still loving it. The stereo system, as I think I've mentioned before, is all kinds of awesome and I'm getting a handle on how it drives. It's a bit bigger than my Civic and I'm sitting higher up, so I'm still getting the feel of how I need to be situated when I park, but I'm getting a lot better at it now. Still no pictures since I haven't had time and it's dark out at night now due to daylight savings time. I'll probably post some up on the weekend.
At the moment I'm trying to figure out what the best way to mount my iPod is. The cupholder configuration isn't quite as useful for this purpose as it was in my Civic. For now I'm just happy with CDs though. All in all, very happy with my choice. Very happy.
Busy Busy Weekend
Oct 27th 2007
Well after the whole lot of nothing that was last week, this weekend is going to be an awful lot of activity. First up today I'm going over to my friends place to watch some Anime/Mystery Science Theater/Other movie type stuff which will be nice since I haven't really had a chance to relax recently.
Tomorrow though is the big activity day. Guitar Hero III is finally coming out, so obviously, I need to go pick up my pre-ordered copy from Best Buy tomorrow morning. Then back home to rock out before heading out to Albany with my parents to go see the Blue Man Group perform in Albany. October is the month of concerts.
In other news, I'm considering trading in my car for something that doesn't totally suck in the winter. Still thinking on the financial type stuff that's going to be involved in that though so that may or may not happen depending on certain other factors. We shall see. I'm probably going over to a few dealerships next weekend to check things out and get a feel for about how much this is going to run me. I'm almost totally done paying of my current car though, which is part of what brought this about.
