Super Bowl Birthday
Feb 2nd 2009
First off…yesterday was my birthday and I am now 25 years old. I only mention this because people seemed to delight in mentioning to me that I'm a quarter of a century old. Bah! That makes it sound much older than it actually is…
Nothing really big was planned. For me these days, birthdays aren't really much of a big deal. All the good ones are in the past and there's nothing else to really look forward to. Well, aside from each passing year decreases the chance that I will ever be called up if the draft is ever reinstated. Go me!
So I did my normal Sunday routine, grocery shopping laundry…did a little programming stuff in the afternoon and relaxed a bit. Then I headed over to my parents house to watch the Super Bowl.
The game this year was fairly boring for the first 3 quarters but the 4th quarter had me on the edge of my seat (well, technically on the floor since I was playing with my parents dog). I totally thought Arizona was going to come back and win that game, but even though they didn't, it was still an exciting finish. The commercials, by and large, were very disappointing. I can't even really think of anything that stood out.
The end of the game made up for it though.
But now it's monday. Blargh.

And A Happy Birthday To Me I Suppose
Feb 1st 2007
I guess it should be noted that today is my birthday. I’m 23. Yay.
Now that that’s out of the way..the mythical birthday has lost it’s effect on me. When you’re young (or at least when I was young anyway, not sure about anybody else), it was a time of great anticipation, one of the times in your life where you got a feeling of “growing up” in a concrete measurable form. Of course, you didn’t really think of it like that usually
Now it’s just like any other day. It’s not like I’ve got much to look forward to, like the series of big birthdays in the teens, at least in New York, 16 for driving, 18 for voting and being considered an adult in the eyes of the law (and cigarettes if you’re so inclined…I’d like to keep my lungs fully functional thank you!), 21 for the adult beverages. After that, what’s next? Mid 60s for retirement?
Yup, just another day.
Don’t mind me…I might be a little down because I’ve got class all night tonight. Perhaps I can get out of some of it though, most of it is just lab time.
