Stuck…In The Driveway?

0

Starting my Friday off with a bang this morning, I managed to get my car stuck in a plowed out driveway.

Ok, so what if I was driving out at a bit of an angle? And what does the fact that there was a 2 foot snowbank exactly where I was pointing have to do with anything???

Well, luckily, my neighbor (who I didn’t think was home) came out with his snow blower and helped dig me back out again.

Hopefully that was all the drama I’m going to have today.

Let The Meeting with Family Begin!

0

It’s going to be a busy couple days for me. This morning I’m headed to my parents at around 9 for the ritual cinnamon bun eating and gift exchange (a day early because of my sister since she’s going over to her fiance’s house on Christmas morning). After lunch everybody is headed over here and we’re going to play with my Wii for a couple hours until we head out for my grandmothers (on my mother’s side) for the traditional Christmas Eve get together. I have no idea how I’m going to fit that many people into my tiny apartment, but we’ll figure something out…

It started a bit early last night since I went over to my parents and played a game of monopoly. I haven’t played a board game in FOREVER, so it was fun. I ended up winning too, wheee.

I Need To Have People Over More Often

0

I need to have people over to my apartment more often I think.

Aside from the socializing and having parts, it also forces me to clean up. That’s my project for tonight since I’m having a friend over Friday, and as I had mentioned previously, I’m having my family over on Sunday (and possibly some on Monday as well)

My arms feel like they’re about to fall off though, from playing with the new Wii so much, so this weekend is going to be interesting considering the main purpose for having people over is to have some fun with the new system. I’m using muscles that I didn’t even know existed.

1.5 hours to go until my 5 day vacation starts.

Ahhh…Relief

The Britney Spears christmas music I mentioned yesterday is nowhere to be found today. I think somebody figured out how to turn it off in here. Woohoo.

Tonight will mark the first ever time I’ve had someone other than immediate family over to my apartment to hang out for a bit, so I had to clean last night. A lot. Oh well, it gave me an excuse to clean the place up which I so desperately needed. This all came about when I was talking to said friend yesterday and she mentioned her husband was kicking her out of the house for the night (along with the Wii) so he could get some schoolwork done since it’s nearing the end of the semester and there’d been too much temptation to slack off otherwise, I guess. Anyway, I offered to play host for the evening, so she (and the Wii) is coming over tonight for a little while.

In other news, dentist’s are still evil. I believe I mentioned before that I had to back for an appointment to have…something…done. Well, I got a cavity filled today. I hate needles…ugh. Now the left side of my mouth is kinda sore, but that’s to be expected I guess. The numbness wore off a few hours ago finally.

Advances In Laundry Technology

0

I got confused by advances in laundry technology today.

This one is going to need a little backstory I think.

I live in this apartment and don’t have a washer/dryer whatever in here, so every weekend I make a trip over to the local laundromat. The one I used to go to is local, and the equipment is pretty old and uncomplicated. Throw the clothes in, add some detergent, feed it quarters, come back 30 minutes later, and boom! Clean clothes.

Unfortunetly, they’re closing up shop soon because they can’t afford to replace the aging equipment. So this week, I went to one in the city, with new stuff. Geeze, there’s all sorts of dials, buttons and compartments to put stuff in. I’ve been living in the stone age, and now I’m on the forefront of laundry technology.

So..confusing!

QotD: Howdy Neighbor!

0

How well do you know your next-door neighbors?

I’m generally a fairly private individual. I like to keep to myself (Well, face to face anyway) until I really know somebody. Which, for obvious reasons, makes it pretty hard to be friends with people ;)

The same thing happens with my neighbors. I know their names, a little bit about them, etc. But not really a heck of a lot of the other details. Except for my landlords (As I mentioned earlier, I rent out the other half of their house). I know them pretty well since they’ve been friends of the family for many, many years before I moved in here. A really nice older couple. We chat whenever we happen to see each other.

As for the neighbor on the other side, or across the street…not so much there.

Vod Hunt: Under Construction

Take a picture of something under construction.

Apartment Construction

Apartment Construction

Well, here it is. This is the absolute perfect topic for the first Vox Hunt since all I had to do was walk outside and take this picture. My landlords (also my neighbors…I rent one half of their house. Well…less than a half. One side.) are doing some home improvement. They’re working on adding an external entrance to the basement through here.

I’m also getting a longer driveway and a sidewalk to my door. Yay!

As an aside, I really need to get an actual digital camera soon.

Apartment Pictures

Well, my apartment was clean so I figured I would document the occasion by taking some pictures of my living area in case anyone was wondering what my surroundings look like. I apologize for the quality…the camera in my Treo 650 is not the best thing in the world.

Shown here is the view from my kitchen looking into my living area. Note the wonderful cooling system for the summer months (Open Window + Fan). Tux, the linux  penguin is also making an appearance. Up on the wall behind the TV is a picture of one of my characters from City of Heroes which was commissioned by me.

And here’s my computer area. Highlights include Two LCDs (One 20.1″ Widescreen Viewsonic VX2025WM as the primary and a 17″ Dell display) hooked up to my desktop. The 15″ MacBook Pro sits to the right of where I normally am and handles web browsing, news reading and instant messaging tasks while I’m home generally. My keyboard is a microsoft one and the mouse is a Logitech MX 1000. Other highlights include the iPod between the two LCDs and my non-functional Canon S630 printer
