Revolutionary Road

Friday and Saturday of this week were spent just hanging out with my friends. Some much needed hanging out after this week's longness. Not much in the way of activities to report except for going out to the movies on Saturday to see Revolutionary Road.
In short, it was a really good move although very depressing. Not much of a feel-good type flick at all. But it was very very well done. Leonardo DiCaprio was robbed out of getting a nomination for his performance in this movie as he was REALLY good. As was Kate Winslet. Also, John, one of the supporting characters was AWESOME.
Just a warning as there's some minor spoilers going down in this next paragraph.
I think the thing that most drew me to the movie was how I found I could identify with the position of the characters. Especially the angle of working a job you don't really like because you're afraid to take a chance and see where it gets you. Because that's basically me. And there was a lot of other stuff in there that reminded me very much of the stuff that my friends are going through right now. It just hit a little close to home.
On the subject of hitting things, we had the most obnoxious audience imaginable. Old people. Lots of them. There were two trouble areas in particular. One, a group of women who wouldn't shut up, making comments like "Is she going to <insert action here>???" over and over as if it was their living room. Also there was one man who was just annoying. First of all, he was SINGING ONE OF THE SONGS in the movie. OUT LOUD. WHY??? I couldn't believe what I was hearing!! Second, during one of the most powerful and climactic parts of the film, he blurts out "SHE'S GOING TO <edited to avoid spoilers>!" which kinda took me out of the moment. Then, just at the climax of the entire movie he gets up and walks out of the theater only to return after he misses the single biggest event that happens in the movie. He then begins to ask loudly about what he missed.
I hate people. But the movie was really good. Highly recommended.

Headaches. Ugh.

I woke up this morning with a pretty bad headache but considering I had some projects I'm working on right now at work, I decided to try to go in anyway and get some done. By 10am though, I had enough, so I went home sick. The Motrin I have is, as it turns out, expired and has lost some of it's effectiveness. But I got a new bottle and that, plus a nap means my headache is pretty much history at this point. I'm still hoping I don't get the stomach bug that my mom and dad got over the weekend. I'm not going to say I'm out of the woods yet (for fear of being totally wrong) but it's looking promising.
It did give me an opportunity to work on my project a bit for school, which I did. I'm getting a good amount of it done now and I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. The professor I'm working with, however is being unhelpful as usual. He wants me to come in during his office hours to show him what I've got. However, he has yet to respond to my e-mail last week requesting what his office hours actually were so I can come down and see him during them. I've been fighting with him like this all semester and it's getting old. Fast.
Speaking of Annoying Noises…

In addition to my drum saga yesterday, I have another annoying noise to report.
I was sitting at my computer, listening to some music and doing some web browsing when I noticed that one of the cricket noises that normally seem to come from my left hand side when sitting at my computer (due to the open window over there) was coming from my left…and very loudly.
After further research I appear to have a cricket who has taken up residence behind my refrigerator. I'm hoping it'll move on today…but I'm not holding my breath. I may have to take drastic measures, if only to maintain my sanity. I was reduced to throwing various items at the fridge last night to keep the thing quiet.
