The Castle Didn't Move Very Far
Sep 7th 2008
You ever have one of those moments where you're thinking what you should do and are actually doing the exact opposite? Well… Friday I had gotten a couple of movies from Netflix in the mail and one of them Howls Moving Castle I had intended to bring over to my friends place yesterday so that we could watch it together. So I thought "Cool, I'll just leave these in the car so I don't forget them"
Another First Day Back Post
Dec 28th 2007
The first day back from vacation is always horrible. No exceptions. Which is why yesterday I had such a hard time concentrating at work. It was extremely hard for me to keep my mind on one task at a time which wasn't good yesterday because of the fact that I was working on something that was a little complex and I kept losing my place and having to start over from the beginning again. Sigh. I hope today is going to be better.
After work though, things went a bit better. I did my exercising while starting to watch Cowboy Bebop which has potential right now, but it's hard to tell so early into it. Then I sat down and played Xenogears, which I've come to realize again, is probably my favorite game ever. Such a cool story, and you can always pull something different out of it each time you play it. I'm about 1/3 of the way though the game (20 hours in or so) and things are just starting to get really really good.
On the school front, I was still unable to contact who I needed to contact. On my Rogues airbags front, I haven't heard anything about the parts being in. I'm probably going to call up this morning since my work phone was acting wonky for a couple days and may not have recorded the message if they left one. I'd like to have airbags at some point here.

Well, I've been silent for the past couple days since I haven't been able to come up with something to talk about. What follows is an attempt to cobble together a full posting.
Wassy was over last night where we watched some more Mystery Science Theater 3000 and some anime. The MST3K episode we watched was a compilation of shorts, headlined by Mr. B Natural a freaky ad for some kind of a music store or instrument company in which a female named Mr. B Natural appears from musical notes and prances, for lack of a better word, around the screen in an attempt to help a boy find "the spirit of music". It was disturbing and I was afraid to listen to music after that in case she might suddenly appear. Then there was a short about the technology of the future or something which involved a man and a woman singing and flying around, clearly influenced by some sort of illegal substance abuse by the creative team. Those were the two highlights. I'm really starting to get into MST3K an awful lot. Makes me wish I was into it when it was actually coming out new, but Netflix has a lot of the DVDs, so I can get by.
The anime movie was Armitage III which was good but, very strange. Animation was kinda choppy in spots but the style was pretty neat. The only downside was that it was dubbed and there was no original Japanese soundtrack with subtitles. I have no idea what she's done to me because I used to not like anime at all and now I'm insisting on original language versions. I'm freaked out.
The plans for this weekend were changed quickly at the last moment. Originally I was going to go over to my friends to watch some more anime/play some guitar hero 3, but we've decided that we're going to make the trip out to Rochester for the day to go see Beowulf in 3D at the IMAX out there. I'm not expecting a super great movie but the reviews generally say it's a fun movie as long as you're not expecting a masterpiece. The IMAX 3D thing pushed it over the edge into the must-see category. The CGI looked pretty nice in the trailer (to me at least) so we'll see how it looks on the big big screen.
And hopefully I'll come up with some more stuff to write about that somebody else might be interested in.
Weekend Activities With A Boring Subject
Jul 8th 2007
An eventful weekend so far for me. I went to see Ratatouille Saturday afternoon with Wassy and Jay. It was a pretty good movie. Not Pixars best effort, but it was solid. The animation was spectacular, especially the water. They just keep getting better and better over there.
After the movie, we went out to Zebbs for dinner and then back to their place to watch some more Anime. She's got me watching Neon Genesis Evangelion which I'm enjoying quite a bit.
Earlier today I watched The Iron Giant which ended up being awesome. I really wish I would have seen that
movie sooner. And if you haven't then go see it!
The rest of my time this weekend has been spent doing Astronomy homework that I should have been doing over the past 4-5 weeks. Procrastination isn't fun. I'm almost done with it all now, I just need to finish a couple of research papers and I'm set. I'm taking a break right now, due to the fact I'm entirely drained and can't write another informative sentence. Ughhh…
But…But…It's APRIL!
Apr 16th 2007
I woke up this fine morning to the sound of howling wind. Then I looked out my front window:
Anyway…spent the weekend doing fun and relaxing things. Went over to a friends place on saturday to watch The Prestige which I had rented through netflix. It's a very good, and very confusing movie. Just when you think you've got it figured out, they throw something else at you which changes things completely. Highly recommended. Although I didn't even realize Hugh Jackman or David Bowie were in it until it was pointed out to me.
After that, more anime, a stop at IHOP for dinner and then…more anime. Chobits is turning out to be very interesting. Awesome art and a fairly thought provoking story
Sunday was more relaxation. I started the process of cycling my aquarium in preparation for sticking some fish in there. I then played Final Fantasy 7 almost all day, finishing Disc 1 before calling it a night. It's a really good game so far.
My only complaint is that it leaves you hanging an awful lot as far as giving you some direction as to where you're supposed to go next. At this one point, for example, your party is all bent on rescuing this certain other member of the party that's gone missing.
"Let's go find her!" They say. And then it drops you out to the world map with no idea where to start looking. I had to look at a walkthrough in order to figure out that I had to go to the far northern continent, practically halfway around the world from where I was when they decided to look for her. A little direction would have been nice. Heck, I would have settled for "we should start looking north." They didn't even need to mention it was on a different continent.
I was going to run up to school today during my lunch break to try and work out some of my scheduling problems, but I think I'll have to put that off until tomorrow due to the weather conditions right now. Sigh.

I'm Not Participating!!
Apr 8th 2007
The fish browsing went well yesterday. I think I've settled on doing a 20 gallon tank which is (hopefully) 24 inches wide since that's exactly how much width I have on my counter thingy seperating my "living room" from the "kitchen" here. I also got to see what a betta looks like in an actual big tank since they had them in with other fish.
After the browsing, Wassy and I went back to my place where she further corrupted me with Anime and Manga. Chobits is pretty cool. At dinner (we met up with Jason since he was done with working on his large papers) we discussed her reality warping effects. Ever since coming into contact with her all of my hobbies have pretty much changed around completley. Went from a hardcore PC gamer to a console gamer, going from hating cats to possibly wanted one (as long as it was a calm, boring cat)…hating anime to enjoying some of it. She leave chaos behind here I tell you! Dinner also featured the absolute largest piece of cheesecake that I've ever seen in my entire life.
As far as the title of the post goes, it's…snowing. In April. I've decided that I'm not going to participate in winter anymore. It's April…it should be over. So I'm just not participating.
Plans for today include reading some stuff dead people wrote for my Western Civ class and going over to my Grandmothers to hang out with the family due to today being Easter. That's pretty much the only thing Easter means to me these days…a chance to hang out with the family.
