QotD: I’m Working. Really
Jan 12th
We know you never slack off at work, but if you did, what would you do?
Definitly not posting to this blog right now.
Nope.

I, uh…gotta go.
QotD: What A Waste
Jan 8th
What’s something you bought, knowing it was a total waste of money?
I usually don’t buy things that are a waste in the sense of “I’m never, ever going to use this thing…” but I do have a tendency to buy replacements for things which still work perfectly well. I’m most guilty of this in the computer mice department. I have a drawer that has a bunch of perfectly good mice that I just stopped using because Logitech released a new mouse. I’m trying to curb my spending habits here, but, for some reason I just can’t resist a cool new mouse.
More expensively, It’s been with laptop computers. My last laptop before the MacBook was still working all right before I made the switch. It was acting a little strangely, but nothing too terribly bad. But the MacBook Pro was new and all shiny and I just had to have one.
Just a few examples of my “replacing things that are still working fine” problem.
QotD: Give Me A Ring
Jan 6th
What is your favorite ring tone?
Submitted by rach.
I like the default ringing phone sound. It guarantees that I’m going to actually hear it when it rings. In my experience, other ringtones tend to sound pretty quiet compared to the fancy song based ones.
I’m boring like that.
QotD: Chez Me
Jan 5th
If you could open a restaurant, any kind you want, what would it look like and what’s on the menu?
Submitted by A is for Amy.
(Warning! Inside jokes ahead! Proceed with caution!)
It’d probably look pretty non descript, and have the name “The Restaurant” since I tend to be very generic when naming things. Like in Suikoden, when asked to name the castle, I called it “The Castle”.
As far as the menu, I’m fairly set in my ways, so I’d set out to make the first ever hamburger, chicken-wrap and lasagna restaurant in the world! Those happen to be what I order most times when going out to dinner. For desert, there’d be peanut butter cookies prepared by taking some peanut butter and some cookies and mixing vigorously in a large bowl. And Cheesecake, because Cheesecake is good.
I think it would do well.
QotD: This Totally Freaks Me Out
Jan 2nd
Do you have any phobias?
Submitted by Amirul B Ruslan.
I have a highly irrational fear of bugs. Espically anything that could bite or sting me, which means pretty much everything.
I also have a fear of heights. Not really being on top of tall buildings, but if you get me near a high ledge… *shiver*
The only other fear that I can think of is the fear that people are going to think I’m dumb or don’t know what I’m talking about. This is…annoying. For me and most likely other people around me. I know I do it, I’m the first person to admit it, actually. I tend to take this stuff to an extreme, which can be good and bad. On the good side, I’m generally pretty informed when I go in to make a purchase. I try to learn as much about what I’m interested in as humanly possible.
On the downside…this extends into social interaction. I’m very apprehensive when doing something I’ve never done before, especially if it involves talking to somebody. I hate a situation where I’m not sure what, exactly, is expected of me. So I tend to constantly bug other people I know to figure out what the general procedure for doing certain things are. It’s completely irrational and I wish I didn’t do it, but when it comes to those kinds of situations, I really can’t help it.
I guess I just fear talking to people I don’t know in general, which makes it a little hard to meet new people…
QotD: It’s Going To Be Different This Year
Jan 2nd
What are your resolutions for 2007?
Skipping back a few days here because I finally thought of an answer to this one. I don’t tend to make resolutions because I can never actually keep them. Instead…I’ll call these “goals”
Goal #1) Finish college. This year. Might not happen, but I’m going to try my hardest to make it happen. I’m tired of dealing with this crap and I want out.
Goal #2) Be happier with my job. Whether that means finding something different or making changes where I am, who knows. But right now, I’m not sure I can keep things the way they are for much longer.
I’m going to be extremely depressed if my situation next year is the same as it is today…
QotD: Secret’s Out, Santa
Dec 23rd
How did you find out the secret behind Santa Claus?
Submitted by Carinish.
I was a very gullible youth so I didn’t figure it out on my own. My parents had to tell me it was them, although I guess I had my suspicions at that point.
Then my sister didn’t know, so I had to help keep the secret from her which was challenging at times because I’m horrible at keeping secrets. HORRIBLE!!
I can’t remember how old I was when my hopes and dreams were shattered though. It’s kinda funny, I was just thinking about this this a couple days ago actually.
QotD: Naughty or Nice?
Dec 22nd
Have you ever secretly unwrapped a gift before the big day?
Submitted by Red Pen.
Never. And I know you probably think I’m lying, but either my parents were really good at hiding the gifts or I was entirely too scared of what might happen to me if I did.
Which doesn’t really make for an interesting post, but oh well. Deal with it!
QotD: My Nervous Habit
Dec 16th
Do you have a nervous habit?
Submitted by Herding Cats.
I wouldn’t exactly call this nervous or anything because I do it all the time, but I tend to chew on pens. I have no idea when and where it started, but if I don’t have some gum in my mouth and there’s a pen hanging around somewhere that I’m using, I’m probably going to be chewing on it after a while.
Perhaps I’m nervous all the time? Anyway, I’ve found that chewing gum helps a lot since I don’t chew on two things at once.
QotD: Top 5 in ’06 – Movies & DVDs
Dec 13th
Ok, so I can’t think of 5 movies or DVDs that was released this year that I felt good enough to mention. Mostly I’ve been catching up on movies that I should have seen a looong time ago, but haven’t.
I will, however, list all the movies that I did enjoy.
-
V For Vendetta
I was wondering if I was going to like this movie when I stuck it in my Netflix Queue, but honestly, it drew me right in. Hugo Weaving did an incredible job creating the character of V. From what I understand, it’s extremely hard to convey emotion while acting if your entire face is hidden, but he pulled it off. Some people were turned off a bit by the apparent political message of the film, but as weird as this sounds, it made me think of some things from a different angle.
This is by far the favorite movie I’ve seen this year.
-
Superman Returns
I was very, very hesitant to see this movie because I honestly don’t find superman that appealing. However, two weekends ago I was semi-forced into watching it and it’s actually a good movie. The reason I don’t find superman appealing is that he’s too powerful. When the writers have to invent a weakness for him because there’s no other way for him to be defeated…it just makes him that much less interesting. I prefer Marvel heroes generally. They feel more…real.
But anyway, Kevin Spacey did a wonderful job playing Lex Luthor and Brandon Routh was perfect for his part as well.

Over The Hedge
Probably my guilty pleasure this year. I was entertained by it quite a bit. Not a deep movie by any means. The most memorable part was probably the kid in the the row behind me who was seeing the movie with his friends and he had obviously seen it before. He decided to preface every funny part of the movie with “THIS IS THE FUNNY PART!!”.
I so wanted to strangle him after that…
