Enough with the sick already

0

I'm really getting tired of getting sick this year.

I seem to be catching everything that comes by. The last two days I've been out of commission with this stomach bug thingy. Ruined my 5-6+ year no-puke streak.

I still feel off today, but I'm back at work. Off probably because I haven't really eaten much over the past couple days. Not sure if I'll be able to stay the whole day…we'll have to see.

At least this happened before the DC trip and not during.

Vox Hunt: Call Me A Curator

Show us some art in your home.

What gallery of art in my home would be complete without one of Wassy's creations…soo, here's the latest one I've received. Penguins!!!

The rest of these aren't quite as artsy, but they serve as well decorations in any case, so you're going to have to deal with it! I'm not one to hang up random pieces of artwork such that you might find in a hotel. If it's on the wall, it's gotta mean something to me.

First, to the left we have my Metropolis 2000 Dream Theater DVD movie poster. I got it 4-5 years ago, I believe.

Located to the right is my Phoenix Endsong #1 cover art poster in the bedroom. Jean Grey/Phoenix is one of my favorite comicbook superhero people.

QotD: Chores

Which household chores do you most/least enjoy?
Submitted by falcon.kmc.

The Bathroom. For least enjoyment anyway. I HATE cleaning up the bathroom. HATE IT. It's so…bathroom-y.

As far as most enjoyment, I guess, on a relative scale anyway, just tidying up is all right. But that's not in the "fun" category, exactly.

Of Scheming and Bowling

0

My arm is slightly sore right now.

I went out bowling with some friends last night. The strange thing about this (sorta) is that the last time I went bowling, my parents called and wanted to come over to play some Wii Bowling. Sure enough, my phone rings tonight when we're waiting to get seated at the restaurant (mmmm…zebbs.) I went outside to answer it and it was my mom, asking if the bowling alley was open tonight. I had to clarify that she meant wii sports bowling… Anyway, it was a little strange.

Other strange occurrences included ordering a 1/2 pound burger and receiving 2 1/3 pounder burgers instead because the cook made the wrong size (I wouldn't have notice if they didn't tell me actually.) There was also a kid with a death wish who kept running out into our lane just as I was about to go. And the strangest of all…losing to my very tipsy friend who was having some balance issues by the last game after a pretty decent Cosmopolitan from the bar helped her along. Although I guess drinking and bowling go hand in hand, so it makes sense that they would create a sport where balance wasn't really necessary ;) Granted she's better than me when she's sober, but I'm not entirely sure how she did it…

And FINALLY I can let the cat out of the bag. I've been scheming for the past couple weeks to surprise my fri–heck, I'll just call her Wassy since that's what she goes by on the interwebs…tired of saying "my friend this/my friend that" all the time ;) . Anyway, she's the one who gifted me all of the nice artwork and other small little items, just when they were needed the most. She mentioned a couple months ago that she really wanted a plushie stuffed animal thing version of Yoshi, from Super Mario World. And then I got one, and she said she'd kill me and steal it.

Anyway…I went out to the wide world that was eBay and procured a little keychain version of yoshi (about 2-2.5 inches tall I'd say) since that was the only version I could find that wasn't shipping out of hong kong for $20-25 worth of shipping to the US. I've had it for a little over a week now and I've been dying to tell somebody. I finally gave it to her last night as a little thank you gift for the stuff she's done for me.

New Toy Time!

0

Considering I'm going on the trip to washington DC in a few weeks and I've been working up the courage to purchase a
digital camera for myself because of the crappyness of my Treo 650's built in camera…I treated myself to a new toy tonight.

Well, it wasn't entirely my doing alone. One of my friends helped with the rationalizing procedure. Anyway…yeah…I'm the proud owner of a new Canon SD600 digital camera. This thing is so awesomely tiny. The picture quality rocks as well. I'm still getting used to it, but I took a few shots after the battery charged up just to play around a little bit. Yes, I know my TV is really dusty.

This also gave me a chance to try out iPhoto on my MacBook Pro which worked really, really well. I'm impressed so far, but no time for me to gush totally right now.  I leave you with a few pictures that I took tonight when I was playing around.

QotD: The Best Blend

0

What's your favorite blend or brand of coffee or tea?

I'm not really a coffee person, or a tea person, so I can't really answer the question. Instead I'll just interpret this to mean "your favorite hot beverage" in which case I'd have to go with the new White Hot Chocolate from Dunkin Donuts.

There are no words to describe how much I love this beverage. I pretty much stop by whenever I'm near a Dunkin Donuts and pick one up.

Mmmmm…

If you could write like one fiction author, who would it be?
Submitted by Marilyn.

I'm really into fantasy and science-fiction novels, and as such, I'd have to pick George R. R. Martin as an author I'd like to write like.

He has a way of crafting a story that grips you and doesn't let go. Honestly, I've only really read his work in the Song of Ice and Fire series, but it's really an excellent book. Probably some of the best fantasy/fiction writing I've read yet. He writes complex characters that I really came to care about over the course of the series, and with plot twists which I could never see coming. I'm not really that good at reviewing authors…so I'll leave it at that I think. He's one of my favorites.

A second choice would be Margret Weiss and Tracy Hickman, of Dragonlance fame. They're not quite as "deep" as GRRM, but they can still write a good novel. And they're not so good when they're split apart, so if I picked them, I'd have to pick both of them.
