Me

Hey there. my name is Jason Gouger and this is my little blog. I’m currently 25 years old and live in central New York State with my two best friends.

I work as a programmer at a local telecommunications company although I’m currently re-thinking my career choice and looking into taking some graphic design type courses. I primarily work in PHP and PowerBuilder, but occasionally I get to do a little C# or C++ programming.

My musical tastes are quite diverse, but I’m most often listening to some sort of progressive rock/progressive metal type music. Bands like Dream Theater, 3, Porcupine Tree, Spock’s Beard, Transatlantic, Opeth, etc.

I consider myself fairly knowledgable about computers which used to be a big hobby of mine. I used to build my own machines and keep up with the upgrade curve, but ever since I bought my Apple MacBook Pro 3 years ago, the luster of tinkering has fallen away a bit. I’ve got better things to do with my time than mess around with hardware/software and get it all working together. I haven’t really touched linux for several years, even though I was really big into it at one point.

My spare time these days is split between working on improving my graphic design skills (having done websites like my friend Wassy’s wassyart.com) and playing games to relax. I’m big into the Rock Band sort of games, as well as Japanese RPGs primarily. I do enjoy other genres though. I own a Xbox 360, a Playstation 2 and a Wii although the Wii hardly gets used.
