Caught In The Whirlwind
Never Thought It Would Happen…
Last night was the first step in what I hope to be a new direction for me to go in. Yes…I voluntarily set foot in another college classroom. This time for a class on Digital Typography, my first stop on my new Graphic Design major.
It seems like it’s a lot of stuff I’ve done before, but the professor really knows his stuff and, more importantly, knows how to explain it to the class in a non-boring way. It’s interesting hearing his perspective on stuff since he’s been doing publishing and print layout/typesetting work since before there was computers. So he has a lot of insight on the history of the subject, and why things are done the way they are and called what they are. It’s setup a lot like a desktop publishing type course, which I’ve taken a couple times before, but I think I’ll get a lot out of this one. I’ve already gone through one 4 hour lecture without being bored out of my mind, which is a really good sign.
The only problem is the kids I’m taking the class with. I’m not THAT much older than these people (first year college students). Ok…so maybe I am…but…still. It’s hard to deal with some of them. Like the people behind us who broke in with annoying, unrelated stories about stuff and who couldn’t stay quiet for 2 minutes straight during the lecture while they were working on the homework together in class. It’s disrespectful and annoying. I’m hoping they drop the course…but knowing my luck that won’t be happening…
I’m also going to take the plunge and purchase Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium. I’m going to need the apps, and I really need to…fix my photoshop situation as my copy is not entirely legit. But that’ll be fixed today hopefully once I pop over to the school’s bookstore. Thank god for educational discounts!
It’s just weird being back in class after swearing that I was done with college.

Been A While
about 11 months ago - No comments
It’s been quite a while since I’ve updated here. I’ve just been busy and haven’t felt like writing so much about myself. General Life Update The house that my roommates put in an offer for that I mentioned in my christmas post was accepted and they’ve gone all the way through the entire process to
The Blargh Part

And now for the second half of the post I wanted to make this morning. Less updating, more personal stuff. Like I said, I’ve been feeling a bit blargh recently, for a variety of reasons. Some of which would be uninteresting to people who aren’t me, so I won’t get into it. But I want

I mentioned briefly that I was taking a photography course this semester. Well, the first assignment has been completed, and my work turned in so I figured I’d post up some of the shots that I turned in over here in an effort to stop this from becoming the weekend recap blog. I’ll probably have

Well, another semester of college has started, and yet again I’m taking another course. This time it’s a Basic Photography course that’s web based, so I’m not going to actually have to visit campus much this semester. I’m still trying to figure out a way to go to school more but…it is what it is
Keeping Busy

I figured I’d come out of hibernation to post up a couple of projects that I’ve been working on this month. First up is a couple of things I did for my friend Wassy’s website. She wanted a place to showcase the children’s book she did up for a course she took this semester, as

Ok, It’s been absolutely forever since I posted anything up here. Like I mentioned before, I’m trying to keep the small random stuff more on Twitter/Facebook than trying to write about everything that’s happening in my life. But some stuff has happened that deserves a longer form entry. First off, an opportunity has come up
An Update On Happenings

Just an update-y sort of post today. First off, school. The latest project in my Digital Imaging course was to recolor a black and white photograph and make it look like it was always color. I went over to my grandmother’s to look at some of our old family photos and she showed me the
Lookin’ For Love (February FArt Entry)

Just a quick posting here. I’ve spent the last couple days working hard on finishing my entry in the February FArt competition. The theme this month was romance, and I decided to do a poster for a super hero dating service. This has some City of Heroes in-jokes in the text so it might not

Urgh. Today is shaping up to be…awful. I got caught in the hall right as I was walking in and told something bad happened to our web app that needed fixing. But the e-mail saying what was wrong was total gibberish to me (except for the phrase “the customers are demanding answers!!!!”). So that’s getting
Photoshopping 101

As mentioned previously, I’m taking another class this semester, Digital Imaging which is basically a Photoshop course focusing on the manipulation of photographs. I was dreading the first few weeks of this course since I’ve gotten fairly familiar with the basics of Photoshop in the past 6 months of me fiddling around with it. So
