Caught In The Whirlwind
Revolutionary Road
Friday and Saturday of this week were spent just hanging out with my friends. Some much needed hanging out after this week's longness. Not much in the way of activities to report except for going out to the movies on Saturday to see Revolutionary Road.
In short, it was a really good move although very depressing. Not much of a feel-good type flick at all. But it was very very well done. Leonardo DiCaprio was robbed out of getting a nomination for his performance in this movie as he was REALLY good. As was Kate Winslet. Also, John, one of the supporting characters was AWESOME.
Just a warning as there's some minor spoilers going down in this next paragraph.
I think the thing that most drew me to the movie was how I found I could identify with the position of the characters. Especially the angle of working a job you don't really like because you're afraid to take a chance and see where it gets you. Because that's basically me. And there was a lot of other stuff in there that reminded me very much of the stuff that my friends are going through right now. It just hit a little close to home.
On the subject of hitting things, we had the most obnoxious audience imaginable. Old people. Lots of them. There were two trouble areas in particular. One, a group of women who wouldn't shut up, making comments like "Is she going to <insert action here>???" over and over as if it was their living room. Also there was one man who was just annoying. First of all, he was SINGING ONE OF THE SONGS in the movie. OUT LOUD. WHY??? I couldn't believe what I was hearing!! Second, during one of the most powerful and climactic parts of the film, he blurts out "SHE'S GOING TO <edited to avoid spoilers>!" which kinda took me out of the moment. Then, just at the climax of the entire movie he gets up and walks out of the theater only to return after he misses the single biggest event that happens in the movie. He then begins to ask loudly about what he missed.
I hate people. But the movie was really good. Highly recommended.

Christmas Report
about 1 year ago - No comments
Back at work, sadly, after an action packed christmas weekend. I figured I’d post a quick update as to the goings on. I left work at 2 on wednsday and spent the time relaxing and winding down. Not too much to report there that’s terribly interesting. Christmas Eve I wandered over to my parents house
Long Overdue

I haven’t updated this blog in over a month now. I blame NaNoWriMo. It sucked my writing energy for everything except working on my novel. I’m happy to report that I have, indeed, won. I finished my wordcount while I was over visiting with Kris and Marcy in Boston Thanksgiving weekend. The book isn’t finished

It’s time for another one of those weekend activity reports I said I was trying to get away from, but this weekend happened to be totally amazingly awesome so you’re going to hear about it anyway. Like I’ve been mentioning, I went out to Boston this weekend to meet up with my friends Kris and

Blargh. That about sums up my feelings right now. I had kinda a mixed bag weekend, but I’ve decided to split it up into two posts so I’ll get to the second, more personal one later. First the fun recapy stuff. Saturday and Sunday I went out with my roommates on their quest to find a good
Friends and Dream Theater in Massachusetts

Probably should have mentioned this around here sooner, but I’m now back from Worcester, MA where Wassy and I went to catch a Dream Theater headlining show during their tour with Iron Maiden. The weekend was, in a word, awesome. Earlier in the week we had started to get worried because it was looking like
Ok World. Lets Have A Chat About Avatar

So, over the weekend my friends and I went out to Rochester to see Avatar in IMAX 3D. Note if you have not seen Avatar this post will contain spoilers. So, yeah. Anyway, I had heard a lot about it (as was inevitable with a movie of this size being released) and the general consensus was that

Woah, it seems I haven’t posted here in a couple days. Eeep. So, time to catch up. First up, I got my bonus money on Thursday and it ended up being a bit more than I was anticipating it would be. So I went out searching for a new desk chair for my office. At
Thanksgiving Summary

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone and it was definitely an enjoyable one this year. As per usual, I woke up bright and early to head over to my parents house for our traditional putting up of the christmas tree and such. This year, I helped with thanksgiving dinner again (assembling the lasagna and making
Turkey Day Plans (Minus The Turkey)

It looks like plans are beginning to shape up for Thanksgiving this week, and it couldn’t come soon enough for me. I’ve used a vacation day to turn the 4 day weekend into a 5 day weekend and I could use the time off. As per tradition, I’ll be heading over to my parents house
A Good Day

Ahh… I REALLY needed that. Despite all of the illnesses starting to fly around in our apartment here, my friends and I managed to get out to the Wine Country for the day yesterday. And man, was it awesome. The particular wine country region we visited was around Keuka Lake. Although we only visited one
