QotD: WGA Strike
Film & TV writers are on strike, which means everything except reality TV could halt production. Do you support the strike? Are any of your favorite shows in jeopardy?
I believe that they do have a point as far as what they're demanding from the studios. Getting practically shafted out of certain types of residuals isn't good for anybody. As far as going to strike, I'm not familiar enough with the negotiations to actually say if I think a strike was reasonable or not. If the studios weren't listening to their writers and weren't trying to get a fair settlement then there's little other option.
On the other hand, the strike jeopardizes other people's jobs who depend on getting their money for working on the shows that are going to be halted soon. Even some of the writers, especially the new ones just starting out are affected because they're not getting enough money to live.
Heroes is the show I watch that I'd really care about if it were gone. I also watch Grey's Anatomy, but that show doesn't have as much of an ongoing story arc that would get totally screwed up if it was stopped early. Heroes only has until December 10th left before they run out of episodes, so here's hoping they patch things up quick like.
