7:35!
0Yesterday was busy. Wassy wanted to get out of the house and Jay was at work, so she came over to my place for part of the morning/afternoon to do some more music-related stuff.. We also went mini-golfing (which I won, thanks to several hole-in-one's at the very beginning) and thankfully beat out the rain which showed up during the afternoon. Unfortunately, the rain presented a slight problem for our later plans.
We were planning on meeting up with Jay when he got out of work and go to the movies to see Ratatouille, figuring it wouldn't be super crowded due to people enjoying some Independence Day activities. Then it had to go and rain. The movies were packed and showing we wanted to see was completely sold out. So we scratched that plan and went back to my place for a while and then out to dinner at Outback. Mmm…Bloomin Onion.
Dinner had an especially funny moment where when asked what he felt about having desert, an extremely tired Jay (having not heard the question apparently) looked at his watch and replied "7:35". That was the popular running joke for the rest of the evening, and why it's the title of this post. We ended up not going for desert, for the record.
QotD: Sorry, You Can't Wear That Anymore
0What clothing item do you wish could be banned?

Do shoes count? If so…
I HATE those things. HATE them. Kids zooming around, not paying attention to what's around them and knocking people over. Kids are bad enough at watching where they're going when they're walking, let alone when they're skating or whatever it is these things are.
A close second would be the shorts/pants with stuff written across the butt. Also stupid…especially when it's being worn by girls in like, middle school. There's just something wrong with that…
Ok…enough ranting for now I think…
QotD: Patriotic
0Do you consider yourself a patriotic person? Why or why not?
By the common definition of patriotism thrown around, probably not. I'm not particularly proud of my country and I sure as heck wouldn't go to war for it. Well…any current war anyway. Probably not any because of my believe that war is freaking stupid. Being patriotic implies that I believe I have a more moral duties to members of my country rather than members of other countries which I think is a dangerous thing to believe in. I'm more in the Cosmopolitanism camp.
However, I'm not going to pretend I don't enjoy living here. Culturally, the rights (currently at least) afforded to the citizens, etc. It's not a bad place to live. Perhaps my hesitation to claim to be patriotic comes more from my wish to not associate myself with those who are blindly patriotic. I visibly cringe every time I hear a blatant "Go USA!!" song (usually some sort of country music) because I don't believe that saying your country is the best over and over again makes it true necessarily, especially over the last few years.
In all honesty, I'd love to see this whole concept of countries abolished for a more world-centric view (see the Cosmopolitanism statement above). We're all stuck on this rock together and we're all much more similar than some recognize. All countries are, essentially is an artificial line dividing people. Don't ask me how a world government would work though…I'm going to let someone else figure that out.
