Vox Hunt: It Happened Last Summer

0

Show us your favorite photo from last summer.

That was from the trip out to the syracuse zoo to see the penguins. (And other stuff I guess). This fish was just kinda…floating there. Doing nothing. Just staring out at the people who were looking at it.

A runner up would be some of the Dream Theater show pictures.

Last summer was the summer of the crappy camera phone picture.

Rehearsal, Plus Pizza

0

The rehearsal for my sister's wedding was last night. It turns out I don't have to do much of anything which is handy because I don't need to remember much of anything. Just making sure people get seated properly. Ok, so I'm a bit worried about that…

After we all went over to the groom's parents place and had pizza and hung out for a while which was fun. Highlight of the night might have been when my Sister actually got my Dad and I not one…but two slices of pizza, and drinks. I was surprised, but I wasn't going to argue…

Today's plans include breakfast with the guys, then headed back to my parents to get dressed, then off to the church by 1pm

QotD: Best Text Ever

0

What's the best text message you've ever gotten?

If I recall the wording correctly it was:

"There's a giant hot dog outside wal-mart!!!"

Which was from my sister, informing me that the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was parked outside of  the local Wal-Mart.

The weekend previous to that we were driving to the local Renaissance Festival (we go every year) and saw the Wienermobile driving down the road behind us.

Uneven Arms

0

I went with my parents last night to go pick up my tux for my sister's wedding on Saturday. It seems that one of my arms is longer than the other one, so they had to take the coat into the back and alter it slightly. I'm a freak.

While I was leaving I bumped into one of my friends from High School (and middle school too actually), Joe. I didn't have a heck of a lot of time to talk since we were trying to get to dinner, but I'll be seeing him tonight and Saturday too considering he's in the wedding as well.

Tonight is the rehearsal, followed by pizza at the groom's parents house and then the wedding is on Saturday.

QotD: Grown-Up Boot Camp

What are three things you want to learn, and three things you can teach others to do?
Submitted by bookishbiker.

Three things I want to learn…hmmm.

  1. I want to learn how to play an instrument. Which one changes depending on which day you ask me.
  2. I'd like to learn more about AJAX-y web 2.0 stuff. I know the basics but I really should get more into javascript and such for when I'm doing web development.
  3. I'd like to learn how to draw, although I really don't have the patience for it since my starting ability at this point is fairly low on the scale and will require a massive effort in order to actually come up with something I'm satisfied with. Something that isn't a brick wall of some sort, that is.

And now for the things I can teach others to do. I'm not really a great teacher so I wouldn't come to me if you wanted to learn this stuff, but, here we go.

  1. I can teach people about computer stuff. How to build them, how to fix them, how to program them unless you're doing something stupidly complex…I know a lot about that stuff.
  2. I could also teach people how to find stuff around the internet. I've got the art of google down pat at this point and it's pretty easy for me to find the information I'm looking for
  3. I'm blanking out on number three right now, so I'll have to go with "Teach people about music that they didn't know existed" which I was trying to avoid, but…well, I'm out of ideas.

It's Done!

My MacBook Pro is fixed! Too bad I can't swing back out to the store to pick it up until Sunday. Just have to hold on…a little…longer…

Too…Hot…

0

It's entirely too hot out right now. Yesterday it got up to something like 92F and humid. I didn't want to cook anything for dinner in my apartment (it was already 80ish in there when I got home from work) so I managed to tag along with my parents to go out to eat.

Then I got back home and it was 83 and the temperature wouldn't go down at all. So as of the time I left this morning, it was 78F and rising indoors.

Luckily I have class tonight so I don't have to stay there long.

Not wanting to do anything that involved, well, moving, I dug into my accumulating stack of Netflix movies and pulled out My Cousin Vinny which was a recommendation from my friends. Pretty funny. However, every time I saw Joe Pesci on the screen, the only thing I could think of was his misguided singing career since last week I saw something on VH1 about awesomely bad career moves. Why Joe? Why?!?

Busy Week…

0

I figure I should probably make a post again since I haven't posted in 4 days. I'm feeling a lot better at the moment. My  nose is all unstuffed at the moment but I'm still coughing quite a bit unfortunately. Work faster antibiotics, FASTER!

My MacBook Pro is still in for repair, unfortunately. As of right now the part is still "on order" like it has been for a week. Hopefully it starts moving because I'm really starting to miss it. Not that I'll have the opportunity to go pick it up this week anyway.

My sister's wedding is happening this Saturday, so in addition to my two nights a week class commitment, I need to go pick up my tux on Thursday, go to the rehearsal on Friday night and then the wedding is on Saturday. The only semi-open time I'd have is on Tuesday night which isn't looking real promising at the moment. Hopefully it'll be done by Sunday so I can pick it up then.

To The Doctor!

0

I haven't posted much recently because I've been feeling kinda blah.

I went to the doctor earlier today and was told it was a sinus infection. So I'm taking some antibiotics to take care of it. The worlds largest antibiotics…geeze, these pills are huge.

Nothing else really new to report. I'm just going to take it easy for a bit.

QotD: Just Five More Minutes…

0

What time is your alarm clock set for?  Do you use the snooze button?

I usually wake up at 6:30 on weekdays, with no alarm set for the weekends.

The only time I use the snooze button is if I hit it accidentally when the alarm goes off. The snooze button is dangerous stuff.
