What was the worst job you ever had?
Submitted by salaryman.

This isn’t really saying much, but my worst job ever was the first job I got (which morphed into my current job). I’m not sure if I posted this before or not, but I’ll do it again.

My first job in high school was working at the local telephone company. They did their own bill printing in house in those days, so they needed to hire lots of low cost, high school type people to stick the bills into envelopes.

All of them. One by one. Into envelopes.

Needless to say, it got a little boring.

Eventually, I moved up the ladder a bit into the billing department itself where I was given a data entry type position, helping them out entering service orders into the billing system and such when they needed it. Then I moved to my second worst job. I had to take all of the service orders that were created when people asked for stuff to be done on their account and scan them into a computer using an optical scanner. One by one. Every page.

This job avoided being the worst only because I was able to browse the internet while it was scanning/processing. Ughh.

Then I  moved out of there and into a development position (at the same company). So I quite literally started in the Mail Room and worked my way up.
