New Toy Time!

Considering I’m going on the trip to washington DC in a few weeks and I’ve been working up the courage to purchase a digital camera for myself because of the crappyness of my Treo 650′s built in camera…I treated myself to a new toy tonight.

Well, it wasn’t entirely my doing alone. One of my friends helped with the rationalizing procedure. Anyway…yeah…I’m the proud owner of a new Canon SD600 digital camera. This thing is so awesomely tiny. The picture quality rocks as well. I’m still getting used to it, but I took a few shots after the battery charged up just to play around a little bit. Yes, I know my TV is really dusty.

This also gave me a chance to try out iPhoto on my MacBook Pro which worked really, really well. I’m impressed so far, but no time for me to gush totally right now.  I leave you with a few pictures that I took tonight when I was playing around.

QotD: The Best Blend

0

What's your favorite blend or brand of coffee or tea?

I'm not really a coffee person, or a tea person, so I can't really answer the question. Instead I'll just interpret this to mean "your favorite hot beverage" in which case I'd have to go with the new White Hot Chocolate from Dunkin Donuts.

There are no words to describe how much I love this beverage. I pretty much stop by whenever I'm near a Dunkin Donuts and pick one up.

Mmmmm…

If you could write like one fiction author, who would it be?
Submitted by Marilyn.

I'm really into fantasy and science-fiction novels, and as such, I'd have to pick George R. R. Martin as an author I'd like to write like.

He has a way of crafting a story that grips you and doesn't let go. Honestly, I've only really read his work in the Song of Ice and Fire series, but it's really an excellent book. Probably some of the best fantasy/fiction writing I've read yet. He writes complex characters that I really came to care about over the course of the series, and with plot twists which I could never see coming. I'm not really that good at reviewing authors…so I'll leave it at that I think. He's one of my favorites.

A second choice would be Margret Weiss and Tracy Hickman, of Dragonlance fame. They're not quite as "deep" as GRRM, but they can still write a good novel. And they're not so good when they're split apart, so if I picked them, I'd have to pick both of them.

Blogging From Class. Wheee!

Let's see if I can do a whole post like this. I'm currently typing to you using my treo 650 from my western history class. We're currently engaging in a long discussion about Adam Smith's economic ideas and I'm bored stiff.

I am not very interested in economic stuff. Sure, I know the basics of economic theory and capitalisim, but once we start delving into the more complex ideas I lose all interest. It's really not my thing. I'm willing to leave economics to the economists.

So for now…I am bored out of my mind, waiting for the professor to say that we can go home (which may not be for a while) and typing this out on a thimb keyboard.

Oh! Speaking of economics, I saw that they've added a stock ticker to our campus furnishings. Why a technology focused school needs a stock ticker…I don't know.. I snapped a picture though.

QotD: Best Day

0

What is your favorite day of the week?

Friday is by far my favorite day of the week. Saturday takes second place, followed by Sunday.

I like Friday for the obvious reasons. The day the weekend really starts, the day I can relax, hang out, not have to worry about getting up early the next morning or having something done the next day for some class I'm taking.

Saturday is cool too, but kinda in the middle. I know that Monday is coming and that I probably need to do some homework for my Western Civilization class on Monday nights, but…it's still far enough away to not worry about it too much.

Sunday is the day I feel the pressure of Monday weighing down on me. I wonder where the weekend went…why I didn't get done the things I planning on doing, etc.

Then Monday is hell. Nothing can help that.

Yet Another Internet Fad I've Jumped On

0

Much like twitter, I've found another internet fad which I've decided to jump on the bandwagon.

I don't like posting links to stuff on here because I want this place to be my thoughts, not links to what other people are thinking. Not that people really care what I think, generally, but this is the internet. Lots of people talk with no audience ;)

Anyway, I've been reading a bunch about Tumblelogs in the past few days and I've decided that I'm going to try to get one going and see if I can keep things going over there too. I'll post links to cool things I've found around the web over there, interesting stories, quotes, quick pictures, etc. I'll keep posting over here more complete/well rounded thoughts and ideas, probably building off some of the stuff in there.

$5 says I lose interest in the tumblelog in under a week.

Mini Cultivated Nonsense – The Tumblelog!

I'm still working on customizing the look a little bit.
