Caught In The Whirlwind
The iPhone
I. Want. One.
I’m really glad it’s not coming out until June because I’m not sure I could restrain myself if it was an unlocked phone that was released today. I’m trying to save up for the DC trip coming up in march, so…buying an expensive electronic device probably wouldn’t be the best possible move at that point.
I was just talking with a friend earlier yesterday about possibly upgrading my phone (I have cingular) to a windows mobile device in August when my phone upgrade becomes available. I currently have a Treo 650 which I do like, but it feels like Palm is being very stagnant in the operating system department. It’s been the same old look, feel and feature set for the past 5 year now, and it’s starting to look outdated.
I think I’ll be upgrading to the iPhone in August though. 2 things I don’t like. First is the fact there’s no Instant Messaging capability that I can see. Not the end of the world, but it would be nice to have a native client for AIM usage. The second would be the price. $500 for the 4GB version (the one I’d probably be getting…although who knows when it comes out, I can see having 8GB being useful as a secondary MP3 player for when I don’t need to bring my iPod video with me) is a little more than I’d usually pay for a phone. But this thing is COOL.
