QotD: Books From My Childhood
What books did you love as a child?
Submitted by hearts.
My parents had this HUGE collection of Dr. Seuss books which were a favorite when I was very young. Especially “Oh, The Places You’ll Go“. That along with “The Cat in the Hat” was probably the most read book from early childhood that I can remember.
Pretty early on I started branching out into more advanced reading but nothing stands out at me as mentionable specifically. Actually, there is a couple I can think of now. Bruce Coville’s My Teacher is an Alien series was also a favorite of mine, as well as the Willy Wonka books (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). I remember doing these book club orders in school and I’d always end up using the one from a couple grades above me because I was an advanced reader, which I’d have to thank my parents for since they encouraged it so much. It was very rare when I didn’t have a book to read that was either tucked in my desk in elementary school or that I was carrying with me from class to class in middle school/high school
