My 4th generation iPod (with color screen) is kinda flaking out on me again. Which is annoying, since if I have to send it in to Apple, this would be my 3rd replacement model. Since March. It seems like the hard drive is having trouble starting up, so when it needs to access the hard drive, sometimes it’ll freeze up and start making some fun clicking noises, like it’s trying to start up but can’t.

Never fear though! If I whack it a few times on the back, it’ll start up perfectly. I end up having to do that at least once or twice a day now. I’m hoping it gets to the point where it won’t start up again so I can send it into Apple (which to their credit, does have really good support, both in store at the genius bar and through the mail) to have it fixed with some certainity that they won’t send it back to me and say it’s working.

I’m trying to limp along until October when my original iPod waranty ends and my Best Buy protection plan kicks in. That way I can get an upgrade to the Video iPod, which hopefully won’t have so many issues…sigh.
